Delete your account
This page covers the account in the application at app.eduphily.com. It says how to have it deleted, what disappears with it and what stays on for a while, and why.
How to delete your account
The application will get a button for this; during the closed test round a message to the contact address is enough. Write from the address you sign in with, or name it in the message — otherwise the account cannot be matched. Deletion usually happens within a few days, at the latest within one month, and you get a confirmation.
What gets deleted
- The account with name, email address and profile picture from the Google account.
- The link to Google, including the identifiers and tokens that confirmed each sign-in.
- All sessions — signed-in devices lose access immediately.
- Your database on the server with subjects, topics, notes and their handwriting, exam dates and uploaded material.
- The image files of your scanned pages in object storage. Each is marked as deleted before the database falls; whatever storage does not release right away is removed by an hourly maintenance run, permanently at the latest 31 days after the marking.
What stays on for a while
Security log
Sign-ins, sign-outs and rejected access are held in a separate log with a timestamp and IP address; the deletion itself is held there with a timestamp and the account identifier, without an IP address — it is triggered by hand and not by a device. The log evidences that access took place and is deleted after 90 days.
Server logs
The technical logs of the delivery hold no content and are deleted after 30 days.
Backups
The nightly backups carry the state from before the deletion. They sit in two layers: the backup run keeps seven daily and four weekly states, and the storage space itself holds every state already removed there for a further ten days in snapshots of its own. What is counted are backup runs and not days: in regular operation the last state holding your data is gone after six weeks at the latest, and correspondingly later if backup runs fail. The image files of your scans are not part of this backup; they sit in object storage and disappear there on their own schedule above. Backups are brought back in two cases: in an emergency, and every night as a test — the backed-up state is opened on a separate machine in throwaway databases and merely counted for completeness; the copy is removed again afterwards. If a real emergency restore happens, your deletion is carried out again afterwards.
The entry on the access list
It existed before your account and does not fall with it: deleting the account does not remove it. If you want it deleted too, please say so in your message — then your address disappears from the list as well, and any new access requires a new invitation.
Your message
The email in which you requested the deletion stays in the mailbox for as long as it is needed as evidence.
Data on your device
The application works locally first: a copy of your content sits in the storage of the browser or the installed app. That copy is untouched by the deletion on the server. Sign out and uninstall the app, or clear the site data in your browser.
Deleting single items only
It does not have to be the whole account: subjects, topics, notes and material can be deleted one by one inside the application. Whatever you delete there also disappears from your database on the server with the next sync. For the image files of scanned pages there is one limitation: the device reports their deletion to the server exactly once, with no second attempt. If that report does not get through — because the device has no network at that moment, for instance — the image file stays in object storage even though the page has disappeared from the application. Deleting the whole account, by contrast, covers every image file; it runs on the server, not on your device.
